Pyramid Valley Vineyards


Mike & Claudia Weersing are making New World wines with an Old World sensibility. After studying winemaking in Europe and working with growers such as Ernie Loosen, Marc Kreydenweiss, Nicolas Potel and Hubert de Montille, Mike settled in New Zealand where he was the winemaker for Neudorf. After much searching he came to Pyramid Valley where he found the right combination of clay and limestone to plant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Farmed using biodynamic practices, all the wines are made with indigenous yeasts (cultivated in each block every year) and a minimum of interventions. Fermentations can last well over a year, and there is no fining or filtration at bottling. These wines are as natural as can be, with an emphasis on craft over additives.
